We all know that balance is key in business – balancing supply and demand, balancing the books, achieving a work/life balance and ensuring you have the right balance of skills and expertise to deliver the requirements of your customers or clients – all of these are fundamental to success. In addition, the subject of gender balance has been the hot trending topic in recent years. Since women represent an equal share of the world’s population we at GAP Performance are fully behind the movement and not simply because our MD and founder is a woman but because we, like those behind International Women’s Day 2019 believe that balance is not simply a women’s issue, it too is a business issue. Of course, we fully support the gender-balanced boardroom/government/media coverage/wealth (the list goes on) but more so because we agree that ‘gender balance is essential for economies and communities to thrive’.*

Happily we’re already ahead of the curve. Managing Director, Julie Pelych, has been at the helm of GAP Performance for over 25 years and her team includes a host of strong women. Furthermore she practices what she preaches and believes firmly in continuous development for herself and her colleagues, delivers Development Programmes themed around building confidence, developing positive beliefs, silencing the inner critic and developing a strong and authentic personal brand – often, but not exclusively – for women, and accommodates her team working from home to boost productivity, where practical.

Tasneem Siddiqi, BBC broadcaster and leadership consultant

Last year, driven by a passionate desire to bring together senior women in business to share experiences and to support one-another, Julie also launched the GAP Performance Women’s Networking Group which has as its mission to enable mutual learning, celebrate achievement and to work together to fulfil potential.  In successful events in 2018 the group covered The Confidence Gap, Insights from Neuroscience into Improving Confidence and Presence and on 28 March 2019, will be running its third event, this time exploring Executive Presence, Personal Impact and Communication Skills.

With keynote speaker, international BBC broadcaster and leadership consultant, Tasneem Siddiqi, this promises to be an enlightening, hands-on interactive workshop. A limited number of spaces are still available but don’t take too long to weigh up your options as the closing date for tickets is fast approaching.

And so today, on International Women’s Day when we join women the world over to support the #BalanceforBetter initiative we’re striking the pose and celebrating our own enduring approach to achieving balance.
